Cat's In The Cradle

As I write this we are making preparations for my eldest to be married in a few, short days. Talk about epic moments and days of days. We are simply exploding with God’s overwhelming blessing. So before I get too far into this blog let me go back in time a bit. Twenty-seven plus years ago a young lady walked into church and I told the head usher that she would be mine. Bold and presumptuous, I know, but I was twenty years old, hopefully I’ve grown since then. Two years later I was in the McDonalds at the corner of Reilly and Cliffdale with both Tony and Rebecca when someone about my age now came up to me and said to appreciate every moment, seize every opportunity and take every chance because you are going to blink and they are going to be grown. Friends all I did was blink and here I am. My oldest daughter is married and has given me two beautiful grand babies and in a few short days my oldest son will say his, “I do’s”. In looking back over the past twenty-seven years of being a dad...

On The Move

As you know I recently finished 'The Chronicles of Narnia' book series once again. Throughout the series it is said that Aslan is on the move. He's been seen over here, over there. There has been a sighting in these woods, on that mountain. You know that stuff is about to start happening when Aslan starts moving. The Lion is once again on the move. Over the past few weeks the air has begun to charge, the feeling of expectation has begun to grow. It’s interesting to note that several times in my life God has “moved” in really big and spectacular ways. Many things are different and many things the same. It’s in the intimacy, to know and be known. Not that I know what God is doing or will accomplish during this season. BUT I do know when my Father is on the move, and friends, it excites me. Maybe it has been awhile since you’ve seen Him move. Maybe you don’t believe He is still moving. Oh friend, this is your opportunity to once again watch the power of God poured out on His p...

Wolf in Sheep's Clothing

I recently began rereading C.S. Lewis' "Chronicles of Narnia" and have made it once again to the final book. Orchestra plays a crescendo, "The Last Battle"! Let me first begin by saying if you’ve never read Chronicles of Narnia, I highly recommend it for young and old alike. Some might protest and say, “but Pastor I thought those were children’s books?” That is the wonderful thing, they are! But like any great story teller, Lewis weaves some very profound and precious truths deep in the pages of this seven part series. Not to give away the story but early in the last battle an ape and a donkey find a lion skin. The ape has the clever idea of dressing up the donkey in the lion skin to fool everyone into believing that he is Aslan. Now for those unfamiliar with Aslan, He is the KING, like, of all, everything, in the story. He represents Jesus. He dies for the guilty in “Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe,” and leads the lost home in, “The Horse and His Boy.” So you woul...
